About the taluka
Maval is the hilly land on the old road and rail route between Pune and Mumbai. The Mavalas, the hardy soldiers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's army, came from this region.

- The hill stations of Lonavala and Khandala, and Lonavala chikki.
- Ancient Buddhist caves at Karla, Bhaja and Bedse.
