History
Visapur stands next to Lohagad and is higher than it. It was built later, in the Peshwa period, to strengthen the defence of the area. In 1818 British forces placed guns on Visapur to fire on Lohagad.
What you can see today
- A large flat top with ruins of buildings, water tanks and wells.
- Old walls, a Hanuman carving and a few cannons.
- In the monsoon, water flows down the rock steps of the main route.
How to reach
Start from Malavli station or Bhaje village. The climb takes about two hours.
Tips for visitors
- The waterfall route is slippery. Wear shoes with a good grip.
- There is little shade or food on top. Carry water.
