About the taluka
Haveli taluka forms a ring around the city of Pune. Many of its villages have become suburbs, while the hills to the south-west are still green and quiet.
Known for
- Sinhagad fort and Khadakwasla dam, which supplies water to Pune.
- The National Defence Academy at Khadakwasla.
- Dehu, the village of Sant Tukaram, and Theur, home of the Chintamani Ashtavinayak.
Places to visit
Sinhagad Fort, Chintamani temple at Theur, Dehu and the Khadakwasla backwaters. The Nisargopachar Ashram at Uruli Kanchan, a nature cure centre started by Mahatma Gandhi, is also in this taluka.
