About the taluka
Shirur taluka lies to the north-east of Pune, along the road to Ahilyanagar. It is a farming area that has grown fast with industry at Ranjangaon and Shikrapur.
Known for
- The Mahaganapati Ashtavinayak temple at Ranjangaon.
- Vadhu Budruk, where the samadhi of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj stands. Tulapur, just across the river in Haveli taluka, is also linked with his last days.
- Koregaon Bhima, a village of historical importance on the Bhima river.
