History
Tikona means three-cornered, from the shape of the hill. The fort is also called Vitandgad. Like Lohagad and Visapur, it watched over the Pawna valley and the routes through the Maval region.
What you can see today
- A steep set of rock-cut steps near the top.
- Water tanks, a small temple and the remains of walls.
- A wide view of Pawna lake, Tung fort and Lohagad.
How to reach
Drive via Kamshet towards Pawna, to Tikona Peth village at the base. The climb takes about an hour.
Tips for visitors
- The last steps are steep and narrow. Take your time.
- Combine with a lakeside lunch or camping at Pawna.
