Pune Junction
Pune Junction is the main railway station of the city, on the Central Railway. Trains run from here to Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Howrah, Goa and most other parts of India. The station is a short walk from the Pune Station metro stop on the Aqua Line, and close to the Pune Station bus stand.
Other stations in the city
- Shivajinagar: for local trains and some long-distance trains, near the Shivajinagar bus stand and metro.
- Khadki, Pimpri, Chinchwad, Akurdi and Dehu Road: on the line towards Lonavala and Mumbai.
- Hadapsar: on the line towards Daund and Solapur; some long-distance trains now start here to ease the load on Pune Junction.
Local trains
Suburban local trains run between Pune and Lonavala, stopping at Shivajinagar, Khadki, Pimpri, Chinchwad, Akurdi, Talegaon, Kamshet and Malavli, among others. They are the cheapest way to reach Lonavala, Karla and the Lohagad fort. Check the timetable on the railway app.
The Deccan Queen
The Deccan Queen between Pune and Mumbai started on 1 June 1930 and is one of the most loved trains in India, with a dining car that generations of travellers remember. Its birthday is still celebrated at Pune station every year.
