Lines running today
- Purple Line (Line 1): PCMC to Swargate. It links Pimpri Chinchwad with the heart of Pune, through Kasarwadi, Bopodi, Shivajinagar, the District Court and Mandai to Swargate. The full line opened on 29 September 2024.
- Aqua Line (Line 2): Vanaz to Ramwadi. An elevated line of about 14.7 km with 16 stations, from Kothrud (Vanaz) through Deccan, the District Court, Pune Station, Kalyani Nagar and Yerawada to Ramwadi. The full line opened on 6 March 2024.
The two lines meet at the District Court (Civil Court) interchange station, where you can change trains.
Line 3: Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar
The Maan, Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar line, built by PMRDA for the IT park, was running daily trial runs in October 2026, with its first stations ready and passenger service awaiting inauguration. We will update this page when it opens.
Coming next: Swargate to Katraj
An underground extension of the Purple Line from Swargate to Katraj, about 5.5 km long, has been approved. Work started in 2026 near Market Yard, and it is planned to open by 2029.
Tickets and tips
- Buy tickets at station counters and machines, or on the official Pune Metro app, which also has QR tickets.
- The metro is the quickest way from Pimpri Chinchwad or Kothrud to the old city, especially at rush hour.
- Swargate and Pune Station metro stations are close to the big bus stands and the railway station.
- Fares and timings change; check the Pune Metro app or website before you travel.
