Pune, September 16, 2018: Bank of Maharashtra, one of the oldest public sector banks in India, celebrated its 84th Foundation Day at its Head Office in Pune. Established in Pune in 1935, the bank has grown to a strength of 1846 branches, 1874 ATMs and over 2.6 Crore customers across the country & employee strength of around 13000.

Dr. M. V. Patwardhan, Honorable Ex. CMD, Bank of Maharashtra was chief guest of the function.  The event was graced by eminent industrialists and distinguished dignitaries from different walks of life.

Coinciding with the occasion of 84th Foundation Day and keeping in mind customer centricity, Bank of Maharashtra announced the introduction of attractive services of 75 Cash Recyclers in the state for the benefit of its customers.  Cash Recycler is an additional facility of ATM which enables bunched note acceptance in addition to the normal functions of ATM (Cash Withdrawal, Funds transfer, PIN change, etc). Maximum 200 pieces of currency notes with mixed denominations (INR 2000, 500,200,100, 50) can be deposited at one time (with Card or without Card). The superior technology will also automate cash management cycle and enhance customer experience.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri. A. C. Rout, Executive Director, Bank of Maharashtra outlined the history and growth of the bank, saluted the bank’s founders and thanked customers, stakeholders & staff members for their relentless support and belief in the institution. He added, “Bank of Maharashtra has strived to provide banking solutions to all, working towards becoming a one-stop solution and a financial supermarket for everyone. In our 84th year of existence, we will focus on improving and strengthening our credit delivery mechanisms, promoting effective banking operations and customer oriented banking products. Bank will soon be back into profit and is on course to achieve unprecedented heights based on the love and appreciation of its customers, stakeholders, well-wishers and staff members.”

Addressing the audience as a key note speaker Dr. M.V. Patwardhan, said, “Bank of Maharashtra’s contribution to the growth of the country is highly commendable. The transition in current banking system and role of the regulatory framework in strengthening the banks’ balance-sheet will lead to faster turnaround of the public sector banks. India currently emerging as one of the fastest growing large economies across the globe, which will enable Indian banking system to grow at a faster pace.”

At the event, ‘Maha-Medhavi Puraskars’ were awarded at the hands of Chief Guest and other dignitaries to toppers of 10th and 12th state-board exams from schools run by Pune City Municipal Corporation (PCMC). The Principals of these schools were also felicitated for their continued efforts in providing best-in-class education facility for students in the city.

Mr. M. G. Mahabaleshwarkar, General Manager, Resource Planning welcomed the gathering and the vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. P. R. Khatavkar, General Manager. Pune City Zone.

Mr. Rahul Ghorpade and his team enthralled the audience by their mesmerizing musical performance.
