About
Khadakwasla dam stores water for Pune and is the nearest lake to the city. The road along it is lined with snack stalls and is busy every evening. Further up the valley, the Panshet and Varasgaon dams form long, quiet lakes among the hills.
What to see
- Sunset over the Khadakwasla backwaters, with bhutta (corn) and bhaji.
- The drive to Panshet, and boating where it is allowed.
- Sinhagad fort, close to Khadakwasla.
How to reach
Drive via Sinhagad Road. City buses go up to Khadakwasla.
Tips
- Swimming in the dams is not allowed and is dangerous.
- Keep the water clean. It is Pune's drinking water.
