About the garden
This garden is named after Major Pradeep Tathawade, who was killed fighting militants in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir in June 2000. A life-size statue of him stands at the entrance. The garden was opened to the public on 31 October 2002.
People from Karve Nagar, Dhanukar Colony, Bhusari Colony, Paud Road and Sinhagad Road come here for yoga and laughter club in the mornings and for walks in the evenings. Pets and outdoor games are not allowed, and there are no food stalls outside.
What you can see
- A battle tank used in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, gifted to PMC by the Indian Army.
- A pond with small fish at the centre, and several fountains.
- A small yoga centre and a large lawn facing a stage, used for cultural programmes.
- Mostly Indian trees such as mango, neem, pimpal, banyan, palash, kanchan, jamun, bamboo and bel, and flowers such as roses, dahlias, zinnias and jasmine.
- A children's play area.
