Sachin Daan Utsav 2018

It is said that God helps those who help others. The proverb might turn out to be true this DaanUtsav.  An interesting offer has opened up, where everyone who gifts a child the chance to play, could in turn stand to win a personally autographed bat from Sachin Tendulkar, the God of Cricket.

The master blaster has been an ambassador for DaanUtsav ever since the festival began in 2009. He signed up his commitment by doubling his support for education from 200 to 400 children in June 2009 at the launch of the festival. On March 2, 2010, just a week after he scored the first one-day international double century against South Africa in Gwalior, he again took time off his busy schedule, providing a day’s cricket coaching for charity. And now, on the 10th anniversary of India’s festival of giving, he has again come forward to encourage his fans to give back.

This DaanUtsav, everyone is invited to gift a child a chance to play. All one has to do is to gift any sport equipment to any child whose parents can’t afford it. And share it in any of the following ways-

  1. WhatsApp a picture or video with yourself, the child and your gift to +918879756178, OR
  2. Post the picture or video on fb.me/daanutsav, with the hashtag #DaanUtsavWithSachin.
  3. Post the pic on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #DaanUtsavWithSachin and tag @daanutsav

Everyone doing so gets a chance to win a cricket bat personally autographed by Sachin Tendulkar.

“The greatest gift that I got from my parents was the freedom to play and the right to play.  Sport has the power to change the world. This Daan Utsav, Let’s try and gift a child a chance to play” says Sachin.

Any sport equipment is OK to give – it doesn’t have to be an expensive one. It can be a TT, tennis or football, or a hockey stick, boxing gloves,  any coaching equipment too. Something that a child can play with and cherish.

Pune, 24 September 2018: Former Indian Cricket Captain and arguably India’s one of the best cricket team captain, Sourav Ganguly, launched his book: A Century is not Enough, at Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune. The book, which throws light upon the self-belief that powered Ganguly, is co-authored with senior sports writer Gautam Bhattacharya, who has covered more than 150 Test matches, 700 one-dayers and 12 World Cups. He has followed Sourav Ganguly’s career ever since he made his Ranji Trophy debut.

The Book is launched and revealed for the first time in Pune at Symbiosis International’s (Deemed University) Lavale Campus by Dr. S. B. Mujumdar, Chancellor of the Symbiosis International (Deemed University).
At the reveal of the book Dr. Majumdar said, “My take away from the book is that you should never give up. Be patient and wait for your time and when the time comes play your best. This applies to all our students also.”
Sourav Ganguly brought aggression to Indian cricket team, re-energized them, took India, for the first time, to spectacular overseas victories and the one who literally formed Team India when people had lost hope in cricket. But Ganguly’s story also came with great challenges – from his early days where he had to wait four long years before being included in the team to the ugly battle with the Australian coach Greg Chappell. He fought his way out of every corner and climbed back up from every defeat, becoming India’s ultimate comeback king.
The book envelops the A to Z of his career; starting from the rise, his accomplishment, his lows, his race against time and his massive comeback.
At the inaugural of his book the ever witty Sourav Ganguly, said, “This book is about various facets of my life. It is about how to handle the experiences we face in our life. It is all about the attitude you have which shapes your entire life.”
What does it take Ganguly to perform when the pressure is skyhigh? How do you fight back and win? How do you make a name for yourself when you are young and have started the journey which is closest to your heart? As Sourav takes you through his life, he looks at how to overcome challenges and come out as a winner. Time and time again.
Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Pro Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) & Principal Director, Symbiosis said, “This is truly a well written book. This is a book on leadership and way of life.”
A Century Is Not Enough: My Roller Coaster Ride To Success is a Juggernaut publication and is available in book stores and also online.
