Life and work
Rahul Bajaj took charge of Bajaj Auto in the 1960s and led it for about four decades. Under him, the Bajaj scooter became a part of Indian family life, and the company grew into one of the biggest makers of two and three wheelers in the world.

Bajaj Auto's factory at Akurdi in Pimpri Chinchwad was the centre of his work, and he lived in Pune for most of his life. He was also known for speaking his mind on public matters, and served as a member of the Rajya Sabha.
