Trimbakeshwar stands near Brahmagiri hill, where the Godavari river rises. The present temple was built by Peshwa Nanasaheb (Balaji Bajirao) in the eighteenth century. The linga is unusual: it has three small faces, for Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. Trimbak is also one of the four places of the Kumbh Mela.
From Pune, drive via Nashik, about five hours each way.
