Roads to Pune Airport to Be Widened Faster: PMC Commissioner Inspects Viman Nagar, Symbiosis Road and 509 Chowk
Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishor Ram inspected the main roads to Pune Airport and ordered faster widening, regular removal of encroachments and quick land acquisition near Aero Mall.

Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishor Ram visited the main roads leading to Pune Airport on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, to see how traffic to the airport can move more smoothly. He told officials to finish road widening, encroachment removal, land acquisition and the ongoing works on time.
Viman Nagar: regular action on encroachments
The Commissioner looked at handcarts, hawkers and encroachments in the side margins on the VVIP Road, Symbiosis Road and at Shubh Chowk in Viman Nagar. So that they do not block traffic, he asked the departments to fix specific points and remove encroachments there regularly.
Symbiosis Road to be 30 metres wide
He inspected Symbiosis Road, which runs from the Ramwadi underpass to Pune Airport, and told officials to widen it to 30 metres, as shown in the approved Development Plan (DP).
Nagpur Chawl to 509 Chowk, and the Dhanori link
The widening of the road from Nagpur Chawl and the Jail Road police chowki to 509 Chowk, and on to the airport through Wikfield Chowk, was also inspected. Officials discussed a road from 509 Chowk through Air Force land to the Dhanori main road. To speed this up, the Commissioner asked for a meeting with officers of the Air Force Station, Lohegaon.
North Main Road and Aero Mall
The Commissioner saw the road work going on at North Main Road and asked the Road Department to finish it as soon as possible.
Near Aero Mall by the airport, a 30 metre wide road has been marked under Section 205. He ordered the departments to complete land acquisition for this road without delay.

Additional Municipal Commissioners Prajit Nair and Omprakash Diwate, Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner Tushar Babar, Chief Engineer (Road Department) Rajesh Bankar, Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Somnath Bankar, Assistant Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Pol and officers of the Road Department, the Building Development Department and the Nagar Road-Wagholi ward office joined the inspection.
The Commissioner asked all departments to work together so that the roads to the airport are widened, kept free of encroachments and the pending works are finished quickly.
