If you drive between Pune and Mumbai, note the new rules on the Missing Link of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. From 1 November 2026, goods vehicles may not use this 13.3 km stretch. The order applies until further orders.

The notification was issued by the Maharashtra Highway Police, signed by Pravin Salunke, Additional Director General of Police (Traffic). Goods vehicles were already kept off the Missing Link since it opened on 1 May 2026. The new order makes the rule continue.

  • Allowed: private cars, jeeps and other non-transport light motor vehicles, and passenger buses and other passenger vehicles.
  • Not allowed: all goods transport vehicles, including pickup vans and small tempos such as the Tata Ace, and vehicles carrying flammable, explosive or hazardous material.

Speed limits

  • Private cars and other light motor vehicles: 100 km/h.

  • Car drivers: keep within 100 km/h. Speed is checked on the Expressway.
