Find an ATM near you

Pune has thousands of ATMs, in every area from Hinjawadi to Hadapsar. ATMs open, close and move often, so the best way to find one is a live map on your phone.

Open "ATM near me" on Google Maps

Banks also show their own ATMs and branches on their websites. Look for "Locate us" or "ATM locator":

Indian banks now use web addresses that end in .bank.in. A bank link that does not end this way may be a fake site.

Free withdrawals and charges

These are the Reserve Bank of India rules from 1 May 2025:

  • At your own bank's ATMs you get 5 free transactions every month.
  • At other banks' ATMs you get 5 free transactions a month in Pune. The lower limit of 3 applies only in the six metro cities: Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
  • A balance check or mini statement also counts as a transaction.
  • After the free limit, the bank can charge up to ₹23 per transaction, plus GST.
  • Depositing cash at a cash deposit machine is free and does not count.

Many banks give more free transactions on premium accounts. Check your own bank's list of charges.

Cash without a card (UPI)

Many newer ATMs let you take out cash without a debit card. On the screen choose "UPI cash withdrawal" or "cardless cash", enter the amount, and scan the QR code with a UPI app such as BHIM, Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm. Approve it with your UPI PIN and the cash comes out. Limits are set by your bank.

Some banks also have their own cardless cash service in their mobile app. Look in your bank's app for "cardless cash".

Money debited but no cash came out

  1. Keep the slip, or take a photo of the screen. Note the ATM location, date and time.
  2. Do not try again and again at the same machine.
  3. The amount is usually returned to your account automatically. By RBI rules your bank must put it back within 5 days of the transaction.
  4. If it is late, your bank must pay you ₹100 for every day of delay, without you asking.
  5. If it does not come back, complain to your own bank, the bank that gave you the card, even if you used another bank's ATM.
  6. If the bank does not solve it within 30 days, you can complain to the RBI Ombudsman at cms.rbi.org.in.

Stay safe at the ATM

  • Cover the keypad with your hand when you type your PIN.
  • Never take help from a stranger, and never share your PIN or OTP with anyone, even someone who says they are from the bank.
  • Look at the card slot. If it is loose or something looks stuck on it, use another ATM.
  • Wait until the screen goes back to the welcome message before you leave.
  • Turn on SMS alerts, and block your card at once through your bank's app or helpline if it is lost or something looks wrong.
  • At night, use an ATM in a busy, well-lit place, or one with a guard.
