Creaticity, Pune’s new creative living campus invites you for witnessing an innovative ‘Charpai Challenge’ to be held on 18th September 2018 from 10am to 2pm. The Challenge is being organized in association with Associate Designers of India (ADI) and Serendipity Arts Festival in the Cretaicity campus. The competition invites students and professionals to interpret the Charpai in a contemporary way.
As part of the competition, Mr. Ayush Kasliwala well-known furniture designer and curator of the project, will be holding demonstrations and interactive discussions accompanied by a workshop with Charpai weavers from Bikaner. The challenge is being organised in 4 other cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur along with Pune. The aim of this initiative is to expose participants with the possibilities of weaving and also promote the simplicity of this traditional furniture in order to revive its existence.

About the Charpai Project
An initiative of the Serendipity Arts Festival, this special project aims to explore this furniture item, from a historic and cultural point of view and at the same time, project it into the future, by inviting leading thinkers and designers to interpret the Charpai. The ambition of this project is to celebrate the Charpai and get it recognized within the country as well as overseas as an iconic Indian product, with a past and can possibly have a relevant future.
