Life and work
Gopal Krishna Gokhale taught at Fergusson College in Pune for many years. He was a disciple of Justice Mahadev Govind Ranade and a leader of the moderate group in the Indian National Congress.
Servants of India Society
In 1905 he founded the Servants of India Society in Pune, to train people to serve the nation through education and social work.
His legacy
Mahatma Gandhi called Gokhale his political guru. The Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics in Pune is named after him.
