The Government of Maharashtra celebrates Shiv Jayanti on 19 February. Many groups also celebrate it on the date in the Hindu calendar. Processions with dhol tasha, saffron flags and tableaux go through the city, and thousands of people climb to Shivneri, his birthplace.
