Just like with the successful ŠKODA KODIAQ and KAROQ, the name KAMIQ also originates from the language of the Inuit people who live in northern Canada and Greenland: it means something that fits perfectly. Sitting in the growing city SUV segment, the ŠKODA KAMIQ perfectly combines the advantages of a sport utility vehicle – such as higher ground clearance and an elevated seat position – with the agility of a compact car. With an emotive design, state-of-the-art assistance and infotainment systems, a generous amount of space and numerous Simply Clever features, the new KAMIQ equally fulfils the needs of both family- and lifestyle-oriented customers.

The ŠKODA KAMIQ continues the successful SUV design language from the KODIAQ and the KAROQ and comes with new visual highlights such as the split headlights featuring the daytime running lights above the main headlights. The city SUV is based on the modular transverse matrix (MQB) and, with a length of 4,241 mm, offers the ŠKODA-typical generous amount of space. Modern assistance systems, environmentally friendly and efficient drive systems, the latest infotainment systems and state-of-the-art connectivity solutions ensure the ŠKODA KAMIQ perfectly fulfils the requirements of modern individual mobility – all whilst further consolidating the emotiveness of the ŠKODA brand.

The name KAMIQ continues the already familiar nomenclature of ŠKODA SUV models. The names of the larger models, the ŠKODA KAROQ and ŠKODA KODIAQ, both also start with the letter K and end in a Q.

The KODIAQ marked the beginning of ŠKODA’s SUV campaign in India. The LAURIN & KLEMENT variant, with its characteristic design, extraordinary interior space, practical intelligence, and innovative technology, pushes the yardstick further.

The original LAURIN & KLEMENT badge is a reminder of ŠKODA’s founding fathers. Their focus was on the highest level of craftsmanship, revolutionary technical design, and a personal approach to customers. And it’s fitting that the Czech brand flagship SUV, the ŠKODA KODIAQ, carry the name LAURIN & KLEMENT as a perfect testament to their predecessors’ legacy. DESIGN

The KODIAQ LAURIN & KLEMENT’s individualistic exterior design and a plethora of distinctive features, are an arresting sight. The fascia is dominated by a distinctive chrome grille and the large SUV’s appearance is characterised by LED headlights with illuminated “eyelashes” and 18(R) Trinity alloy wheels.

At the back, the KODIAQ LAURIN & KLEMENT dons crystalline elements in the ŠKODA-typical C-shape LED taillights. The chrome trim in the rear bumper borders the exhaust pipes and the diffuser. The silver roof rails intensify the premium feel of this ŠKODA SUV offering.

The LAURIN & KLEMENT badge, sitting on the front wings like an artist’s signature on a fine painting, is tastefully complemented by the KODIAQ-embossed aluminium door sill scuff plates that entice you into the interior.

Luxurious details and styling accents are found throughout the car. The decorative parts are black, reminiscent of piano lacquer, and are complemented by graceful chrome details. PERFORMANCE

The elegance of the ŠKODA KODIAQ LAURIN & KLEMENT is suitably accompanied by an impressive performance. The 2.0 TDI (4×4, AT) diesel engine generates 110 kW (150 PS) of power and 340 Nm of torque.

The all-wheel-drive system with electronic control delivers a big increase in traction, stability, and safety. The all-wheel drive has an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch which allows the KODIAQ to venture off-road.

The control unit constantly calculates the ideal driving torque for the rear axle. Any loss of traction is virtually eliminated due to a control system that is dependent on driving status. When the KODIAQ is cruising, the power is transmitted to the front axle thereby increasing the fuel efficiency.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

Pune, 21 September 2018 – Pavel Richter will be assuming the role of Production Technical Director of the ŠKODA led INDIA 2.0 project of the Volkswagen Group on 1 November 2018. The 46-year-old will be responsible for the production of all the models at the plant in Pune. The personnel restructuring is part of the ‘INDIA 2.0’ project. Under Gurpratap Boparai’s leadership, ŠKODA is responsible for the Volkswagen Group’s model campaign on the Indian market.

Reorganizing the responsibilities at the management level is an important step in implementing the ‘INDIA 2.0’ project. With the appointment of Pavel Richter to the position of Production Technical Director, ŠKODA has now filled one of the key positions at an early stage.

Pavel Richter has been working for ŠKODA AUTO since 2000, and has performed various managerial roles in the Czech Republic as well as other international markets. In 2011, he became Head of the ŠKODA plant in Kvasiny, Czech Republic. From 2014, Richter was responsible for the production of the OCTAVIA, RAPID and KAROQ models at the company’s headquarters in Mladá Boleslav.

As part of ‘INDIA 2.0’, ŠKODA will be responsible for the Volkswagen Group’s planned model campaign on the Indian market, for which one billion euros will be invested between 2019 and 2021.ŠKODA will manufacture the new products locally based on the subcompact platform MQB A0, initially focusing on India (MQB-A0-IN).

The second step will involve the company investigating the possibility of exporting the vehicles manufactured in India. ŠKODA and Volkswagen plan to develop various models on this platform. The model campaign will be launched in 2020 with an SUV. To ensure the planned models meet the needs of Indian customers, ŠKODA is striving for maximum market proximity from the very start.

The technical development of the new products will take place primarily in India. In this context, the car manufacturer plans to gradually create new jobs locally.

ŠKODA AUTO India Private Ltd. currently offers four model series: the ŠKODA RAPID, ŠKODA OCTAVIA, ŠKODA SUPERB and ŠKODA KODIAQ. The ŠKODA series OCTAVIA, SUPERB and KODIAQ are manufactured in Aurangabad alongside various models from the Group brands Audi and Volkswagen. STORAGE: The RAPID ONYX boasts of a 460L boot space and other intelligent storage solutions with bottle holders in the doors, storage compartment under the front center armrest and cup holders in the front as well as the rear.
