On 17th of December, The Kalyani School signed off 2022 in style, with their Finale event of the year, Mad About the Arts. The Mad About series is one of the signature events of TKS; being undoubtedly, the grandest of them all, it is much awaited by the Kalyaniites.

Mad About the Arts - A Report
Mad About the Arts – A Report

A great amount of hard work and dedication goes behind the final presentation. For every event of the Mad About series, the entire staff and student body, along with the parents, start working on the preparation from the beginning of the academic year. Each Section of every Grade works with the topic allotted to them, under the guidance of their mentors. Through numerous activities, they research, explore, debate and enact, to delve into the subject wide and deep; and enjoy their learning to the fullest. Though the Board going classes are not directly involved in the event, they still volunteer to help in any way that they can. The level of camaraderie and integration that goes into the making of this event, is nothing less than overwhelming.

Mad About the Arts - A Report
Mad About the Arts – A Report

The Kalyaniites start planning for the Mad About event from the very first month of each academic year. This year they had decided to explore the various aspects of Art – both creative and performing, because after the rigours of the past two years, they wanted to worship that aspect of life, which is permanent and ever-green. The celebration began humbly with Mad About Science, in 2015, with a handful of teachers and students. But, even then, there was no dearth of enthusiasm and learning. The concept was new, and the Kalyaniites gave it their stamp and signature. The huge appreciation that they have got ever since, has given them the impetus to grow and flare. Till date, their progress has been unimpeded and phenomenal.

The day of the event saw the school in all its splendour. Every corner of TKS, and every student and teacher, looked resplendent and full of verve. Right from the Elementary classes to the senior – most ones, the students and teachers had decorated their respective classes and clusters with all their artistic creations. The themes were wide and varied – some of these were World Cinema, Architecture, Puppetry, and Street Art to name a few. The visitors, comprising dignitaries, guests and parents had an enriching experience visiting the stalls; playing entertaining games designed by the students; talking to them about their projects and also savouring the toothsome dishes. The students had also set up sale counters of bakery items and handicrafts. The proceeds from each counter, like every year, will be spent for charitable purposes.

Mad About the Arts - A Report
Mad About the Arts – A Report

Mad About the Arts, like every other event of TKS, was a resounding success. While bringing the curtain down for this year, The Kalyani School has already started planning for next year’s theme, Mad About India, which given their zeal and skills, will definitely be something to look forward to.

Australian Government’s Study Australia Roadshow to promote Australian Education in Pune

Over the years, an increasing number of Indian students were opting to study in Australia for its world-class education, post-study work opportunities, and quality of living. In pursuit of attracting students from the Pune region to study in Australia, the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, organized a roadshow in the city, highlighting the various initiatives introduced by the government to support international students.

The Australian Government is offering a range of new visa support initiatives to international students and graduates, including an international student visa fee refund and Covid-19 visa fee waiver, extra time for English language tests and health checks, replacement Temporary Graduate visas and extended ‘stay and work’ periods. Furthermore, fully vaccinated international student visa holders, who have arrived in Australia between January 19, and March 19, 2022, were eligible for the visa application fee refund. The refund applies to current visa holders and new students. Eligible visa holders will be able to make a claim any time up to 31 December 2022.

Students already in Australia, who held a student visa on or after 1 February 2020 and could not complete their course within the original visa time period because of the impacts of COVID-19, may be eligible to have their student visa application fee (VAC) waived when applying for a new student visa.

A temporary relaxation of work restrictions for international student visa holders means there is no current restriction on the number of hours that students can work while studying in Australia. These changes will be reviewed in April 2022. Students must still meet satisfactory course enrolment, attendance, and progress requirements.

Graduates who held a valid Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485), were outside of Australia at any time between 1 February 2020 and 14 December 2021 and lost time in Australia as a result of COVID-19 international travel restrictions, will have their visa extended to 30 September 2022. This extension is to allow eligible graduates time to apply for a replacement visa.

The length of stay for Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) holders has been extended from two (2) to three (3) years for Masters by Coursework graduates, matching the existing provisions for Masters by Research graduates. Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector graduates will also receive a two (2) year Temporary Graduate visa.

Dr. Monica Kennedy, Senior Trade & Investment Commissioner, Australian Trade and Investment Commission,

Talking about the initiatives, Dr. Monica Kennedy, Senior Trade & Investment Commissioner, Australian Trade and Investment Commission, Australian Government said, “From 22nd November 2021 (when the Australian Government announced that the border would open to students) to 18 March 2022, there have been 28,785 student visas lodged by Indian nationals. The Australian Government has worked hard to process student visas to ensure that Indian students are able to return to Australia to commence their studies for semester 1 2022. A surge of applications has been successfully processed with 15,310 visas granted from 22 November 2021 to 18 March 2022 and over 25,000 students arriving on our shores to begin or resume study at Australia’s quality education institutions.”

Australian education is in the top tier of demand globally, due to its high quality, strict accreditation standards, sophisticated support for international students, relevant curriculum, and one of the highest graduate employability rates, all delivering a better return on investment for the student. Australia has one of the most supportive international education systems in the world. The Australian Strategy for International Education 2021‑2030 puts the student experience, student protection, and students’ rights at the center.”

The unprecedented outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the lives of millions of students, especially international students who experienced difficulties due to border restrictions and health hazards, across the world. Recently, Australian Trade and Investment Commission has launched Study Australia Industry Immersion Program (SAIEP) for current Indian students at Australian universities to enhance their employability skills.

The India-Australia relationship is at an all-time high. The pace and scale of our cooperation have been grown swiftly since our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was agreed upon in 2020. The recent Summit between Prime Minister Scott Morrison and the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi on 21 March called for a new level of ambition to drive our cooperation forward, particularly when it comes to our economic cooperation and education is a sector that holds great potential.

At the Summit, Prime Ministers announced a Taskforce on Education Qualifications Recognition which will address the recognition of different delivery modes including online and blended learning, joint degrees, and education at offshore campuses. The task force will deliver a mechanism for expanding education qualification recognition between Australia and India by the end of the year, with implementation to take place in 2023.

Orchids Ambegaon organizes first of its kind field trip

In this light, Orchids International School’s Ambegaon branch recently conducted a unique field trip for their EYP students. As the Metro is Pune’s latest attraction, inaugurated recently by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. For the first time in Pune, a school organized a trip for students to view and experience the Metro ride- Orchids Ambegaon took students on a field trip to the Pune Metro station, the students learned about how a metro rail functions and how to board and experience traveling on a metro train.

Nearly 262 EYP students (Nursery to Grade 2), 28 Teachers, Coordinators, and the Principal, Aparna Khairnar along with 6 ancillary staff were part of this interesting trip. The students and staff of Orchids Ambegaon visited the Metro station, saw important parts of the station, and took a two-way ride. The school received overwhelming feedback from parents as this was indeed a great surprise trip! The entire management of the Pune metro lent immense support by deputing their support staff to escort and guard the students on the platform while boarding and alighting the metro.

Mumbai, 29 SeptemberIndia is slowly, but steadily, getting back on its feet from the second wave of COVID-19 and many have lost the battle with COVID-19 during India’s second wave. Many families in our extended circles and the community have lost their sole earning members.

Youth Employment Program (under the TATA Affirmative Action Program) is TCS’ CSR flagship program to empower youth, women from rural colleges, unemployed graduates, especially from socially and economically disadvantaged sections of the society towards employment opportunities in the 21st century.

With the aim of helping youth rebuild their livelihoods and provide pathways to employment, TCS has included special programs that focus on training the youth in Quantitative Aptitude, Business Communication Skills, Programming, and Domain Skills.  Right from training to finding employment, TCS is supporting the candidates and grooming them for the careers of tomorrow. Nominated members from these bereaved families are included in the ongoing virtual Y.E.P batches across the country.
