Gurugram, April 19: Snapdeal, India’s largest value e-commerce company, today announced the launch of a new brand campaign “Brand Waali Quality, Bazaar Waali Deal.  The campaign highlights Snapdeal’s positioning as a shopping destination that disrupts the notion that only expensive products offer good quality. Taking a direct approach, the campaign disrupts the notion that only expensive products/brands offer good quality.  In a straightforward manner, it communicates Snapdeal’s unique value proposition – good quality at low prices

The campaign “Brand Waali Quality, Bazaar Waali Deal”, features Bollywood actors Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh Using humor, the campaign takes a lighthearted dig at a mindset that feels that anything can be good only if it is branded.

Through a series of videos, the campaign challenges the conventional “brand-oriented” thinking and draws the attention of the audience to the depth of high-quality choice that is available online, and showcases that great quality is also available at affordable prices. The campaign is targeted towards smart, value-conscious buyers, who are not necessarily taken in by the “brand quotient”, but are focussed on getting good quality, high utility items including fashion, accessories, homeware, and much more.

Speaking on the release of the campaign, Snapdeal’s CEO & Co-founder, Kunal Bahl said, “Value is an integral part of India’s purchase journey – online or offline. It is shaped by decades of experience & acumen of Indian families in looking beyond the sales talk to find the best value for their rupee. The campaign is designed based on consumer insights gathered through extensive research. While users are familiar with value-priced options, they also seek a consistently predictable experience on quality, assortment, price, and service. Snapdeal has built out a complete solution, where the entire assortment on the platform is aligned with the value e-commerce tenets of good quality at low prices.  With its distinctive positioning, as seen in the campaign, Snapdeal is visibly reaffirming its leadership in the value e-commerce space.

Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh star in Snapdeal’s new campaignWhile value retail has traditionally thrived in India’s bazaars and in more recent times through modern format value retailers, an online equivalent of the same was missing. Snapdeal is India’s only e-commerce platform that is solely focused on the value segment. Unlike other platforms, which have bits of value selection dispersed across the entire assortment, 100% of Snapdeal is about value.

The market for value retail in India is estimated at USD 210 Bn, which is 3 times of branded retail. Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh, which is a remake of Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy, released last week. While the film continues to soar at the box office, it has been slammed and panned by critics unanimously for its misogynstic and violent approach to women. “Thank You Kabir Singh for teaching people that

every aspect about love need not be happy,

nice and romantic. Violence, outburst of anger

and sarcastic attitude pretty much counts as

human reaction. Thank You for letting people

know that obsession of a man about his girl

is normal. I will not say Kabir Singh redefined

‘ Love’, no …not at all. But Kabir Singh relentlessly

broke the stereo type idea of ‘Perfect’ guy

with sane reaction. Love is love, and a lover’s

utopia can be distopia for others and nothing at matters.”

Moreover the singing sensation adds “I am not justifying the onscreen violence or any thing the movie portrays but if we can believe unnatural stuff that we usually see in a movie and never ever think that these stupid stuff could affect the society what is the harm in treating this movie as a ‘movie’ and not a motivational documentary. We previously found it hard to accept when a character from the film Veere di Wedding pleasured herself on screen. Why are we so eager believe that the society is stupid enough to treat a cinema as motivation life lesson?”

Soumita has been vocal about various social issues in past. Her successful career is not only milestones she has set, but she is one of the youngest social reformer who never took backseat when the society need voices to be raised. The best part is that the young intellectual has maintained ‘genre no bar’ attitude while being vocal about societal issues. Soumita raised her voice in case of Sabarimala incident while she supported Swara Bhaskar while she was being trolled online for playing a character that pleasured her self on screen.

Robi Porjay itself is an Ode to Tagore project run by The Aatman Audio. Soumita has come up with two beautiful songs namely ‘Jhoro Borishey Baari Dhara’ and ‘Himero Raate Oi Gogoner Dweep guli’. Soumita has been under the radar of print and electronic media ever since her childhood days. She has won hearts of millions by her performance in popular Musical Shows. Her International debut in EDM industry gave her success as her song ‘Ishq’ became a mega hit over night. Ishq was released in many countries including United States, Russia and India and was widely appreciated by media and music lovers alike. After, the success of Ishq the song bird bagged a few tollywood projects, but her love for Tagore numbers remains unmatched. Speaking about the songs the young singer mentioned the similarity between Tagore’s work and Classical music. The similarity is that both praise the beauty of Nature and the seasons. Similarly, raaga Khambaaj is also one of most loved raaga the soothing nature of raaga fascinates me up to the rim. Himero Raate is basically a late autumn tribute based on raaga khambaaj. The recent viral video about a middle aged woman, who had blamed girls wearing short dresses for Rape, has left the entire country in shock. It did bust the myth that education improves human mentality. The fact that an educated urban woman living in the national capital believes that girls are liable to be raped just for wearing short clothes, raises several question-marks on our evolution as a society.

This ordeal of Shivani Gupta, a Delhi based copyrighter, tells a lot about why Rape Incidents are always rising in our country. The lady, who was later identified as Soma Chakrabarty, made those remarks at a restaurant where the girls were having food with their colleagues. Instead of creating a scene, they confronted her later at a nearby Shopping Center and demanded an apology, but she refused.

Singer Soumita Saha, who has been supporting Shivani and her friends during the entire episode, posted an open letter describing how Chakrabarty’s comments on the Shivani were terribly disheartening. However there was something even more cruel, which most people failed to notice. In defence, Shivani and her friends resorted body-shaming Soma Chakrabarty. They can be heard in the video saying, “concentrate on your own body” and ”let her flaunt if she has the body to flaunt”, “you don’t have a body to flaunt.”, which are undeniably body shaming.

If Soma encouraged rape, Shivani and her friends encouraged body shaming of women. A vast majority of women don’t posses an ideal body. Their comments are equally insulting to womanhood.

“Do we really need to combat misogyny with double dose of misogyny?”, lambasted the famed Singer. “I strongly oppose Chakrabarty’s rape remarks, but that barely means body-shaming her was justified”, she added.
She pointed out that what happened during the incident wasn’t about Feminism but was a classic example of opportunism. It shows that none of the parties involved truly cared about women. Feminism has no place for any sort of inequality and considering someone inferior because of her body shape is something which goes against the very foundation of Feminism.
